Rajasthan Royals Lose By 77 Runs To Gujarat Titans, Equaling Their IPL 2026 Record
Rajasthan Royals equalled their own IPL 2026 record after a 77-run loss to Gujarat Titans.
Rajasthan Royals suffered a heavy 77-run defeat against Gujarat Titans in their IPL 2026 clash on Saturday, a result that not only exposed their bowling struggles but also saw the team match an unwanted record. The loss marked their fourth defeat in six matches and highlighted ongoing concerns over their ability to contain opposition batting line-ups.
Rajasthan’s bowlers once again struggled as Gujarat posted a commanding 229/4, powered by a strong opening stand between Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan. The total marked the seventh time in the season that Rajasthan conceded 200 or more runs in an innings, equalling the record for the most such instances by a team in a single IPL campaign, a feat they had also endured in IPL 2025.
In response, Rajasthan’s chase began brightly with 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scoring a quick 36 off 16 balls, but the innings quickly unravelled after his dismissal. Gujarat’s bowling attack, led by Rashid Khan, who took 4 for 33, and supported by Kagiso Rabada and Jason Holder, dismantled the Rajasthan batting order to bowl them out for 152.

Stand-in captain Yashasvi Jaiswal endured a difficult outing in his first IPL match as skipper, falling for just three runs. Rajasthan’s middle order briefly resisted through Dhruv Jurel and Ravindra Jadeja, but sustained pressure from Gujarat’s bowlers ensured a steady collapse, with Rashid Khan proving decisive in breaking key partnerships.
The defeat also saw Gujarat Titans strengthen their position in the points table, climbing to second with their sixth win in 11 matches. Rajasthan, meanwhile, slipped further down the standings to fifth, with their net run rate taking a significant hit after another one-sided loss.
Gujarat’s dominant performance was anchored by Gill’s 84 and Sudharsan’s 55, with contributions from Washington Sundar and Rahul Tewatia pushing the total beyond 220. For Rajasthan, the recurring issue of leaking high totals and failing to recover under pressure continues to define their inconsistent season.
