Rajasthan Royals Crash Out Of IPL 2026 Final Race, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Heartbroken
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi breaks down after Rajasthan Royals miss IPL 2026 final.
Rajasthan Royals’ 15-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was left devastated on Sunday after his team fell short of a place in the IPL 2026 final, despite a blistering individual performance that nearly carried them through. The teenager produced a standout innings of 96 off just 47 deliveries, showcasing exceptional timing and power-hitting under pressure. However, his effort went in vain as Gujarat Titans chased down the target comfortably to win by seven wickets, sealing their place in the final of the tournament against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
Chasing a high-pressure knockout match, Gujarat Titans were led by a commanding batting display from skipper Shubman Gill, who struck a composed century, while Sai Sudharsan added a fluent 58 off 32 balls. Their partnership ensured GT completed the chase with eight balls remaining, neutralising Rajasthan’s strong batting effort earlier in the match. Following the defeat, Sooryavanshi was visibly emotional and was seen breaking down in the dugout. Videos circulating on social media showed the young batter covering his face with a towel as teammates and staff tried to console him. He later walked out to shake hands with Gujarat Titans players, appearing visibly shaken by the outcome.
Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag said the team felt they had posted a competitive total and believed the pitch conditions shifted significantly after the first innings. He noted that while Rajasthan initially benefited from grip and slower deliveries, the surface became easier for batting after the use of the heavy roller, changing the dynamics of the chase. Parag also reflected on the overall season, describing it as one filled with positives despite the team’s relative inexperience. He said many young players exceeded expectations and suggested that the squad had gained valuable experience that would strengthen them in future campaigns, even if they fell short in the current season.

He reserved special praise for Sooryavanshi, highlighting the teenager’s maturity at the crease and his ability to construct innings rather than rely purely on power. Parag expressed confidence that the young batter has a long future ahead and could become a central figure in Rajasthan Royals’ long-term plans. The match ultimately ended Rajasthan Royals’ hopes of reaching the final, but Sooryavanshi’s innings stood out as one of the defining individual performances of the knockout stage, even as Gujarat Titans moved forward with clinical efficiency.
