Former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin coined a new term to describe the explosive batting of teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi during the IPL 2026 clash between Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Impressed by the youngster’s fearless approach, Ashwin dubbed his style "Vaiball", capturing the aggressive and entertaining nature of the innings.
Sooryavanshi, just 15 years old, delivered a stunning performance, scoring 78 runs off only 26 balls to guide Rajasthan Royals to a comfortable six-wicket victory. Chasing a target of 203, the young batter ensured his team remained in control throughout, dismantling a formidable bowling attack with remarkable confidence and skill.
Ashwin took to social media to express his amazement, writing, “This is insane! This is Vaiball Suryanvanshi. Let’s vibe with this fella,” a remark that quickly gained traction among fans. The term “Vaiball” has since gone viral, symbolising the fearless and free-flowing style of the young cricketer.

Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan also praised Sooryavanshi, suggesting that the youngster appears to deliberately target top bowlers. His aggressive intent was evident as he took on experienced names like Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood without hesitation.
Adding to the praise, Virat Kohli acknowledged the youngster’s brilliance after the match by signing his cap and leaving a message that read, “Dear Vaibhav, well done.” The gesture further highlighted the cricketing fraternity’s admiration for the rising star.
Sooryavanshi’s innings included eight fours and seven sixes and helped him claim the Orange Cap with 200 runs in just four matches. Supported by Dhruv Jurel, who remained unbeaten on 81, the teenager’s performance has firmly established him as one of the most exciting prospects in the ongoing IPL season.
