Preity Zinta Reacts To Punjab Kings’ Loss Against Rajasthan Royals In IPL 2026
Preity Zinta remains optimistic after PBKS loss, thanks fans and stresses strong position in IPL 2026 standings.
Preity Zinta, co-owner of Punjab Kings, responded to the team’s first defeat of the Indian Premier League 2026 after a closely fought match against Rajasthan Royals at the Mullanpur stadium. Despite the loss, she struck a confident and upbeat tone, highlighting that the team remains well-placed in the league standings. The match marked Punjab Kings’ final home game in Punjab for this phase of the tournament before shifting base to Dharamsala. Zinta’s reaction focused more on the bigger picture of the season rather than the setback itself.
In her public message shared on X, Zinta emphasized that Punjab Kings are still positioned at or near the top of the points table midway through the tournament. She appreciated the “Sher Squad” for their consistent performances so far and expressed satisfaction with the team’s overall campaign. While acknowledging the disappointment of the defeat, she reminded fans that many matches remain in the season. Her message reflected confidence that the team could quickly regain momentum in the upcoming fixtures.
Punjab Kings, led by captain Shreyas Iyer, will now continue their campaign with remaining home games scheduled in Dharamsala. The transition marks a change in venue but not in the team’s objectives, as they aim to maintain their strong position in the standings. The loss to Rajasthan Royals was described as a hard-fought contest rather than a one-sided defeat. The team management remains focused on maintaining consistency in both batting and bowling departments as the tournament progresses.

Zinta also used her message to express gratitude toward the fans, praising their strong presence both inside stadiums and across social media platforms. She acknowledged that the support for Punjab Kings has been overwhelming and consistent throughout the season. According to her, the franchise’s goal is to make IPL 2026 memorable for its supporters by continuing to play competitive and entertaining cricket. She reiterated the team’s commitment with a motivational note, stating “Bas Jeetna Hai,” reflecting their determination to win more matches ahead.
In a personal touch, Zinta explained her choice of wearing a red Phulkari dupatta during the match, revealing it was a 26-year-old gift from a Punjabi fan. She said she wore it to honour both the sentiment behind the gift and the cultural heritage it represents. Phulkari, a traditional embroidery art form from Punjab, is gradually fading, and she expressed hope that showcasing it at cricket matches would help promote awareness. Her gesture was aimed at supporting local artisans and preserving cultural identity alongside sporting pride.
