McClenaghan Praises Sakib And Hinge After Impressive International Debuts

McClenaghan praises Sakib, Hinge after impressive debut performances.

Former New Zealand fast bowler Mitchell McClenaghan has declared that the future of India’s pace attack is secure after the sensational IPL 2026 debuts of young pacers Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain for Sunrisers Hyderabad . The duo dismantled the in-form Rajasthan Royals batting line-up with four wickets each on Monday night, helping SRH register a commanding 57-run victory at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium and halting RR’s winning streak.

In a match that will be remembered for its explosive start with the new ball, debutant Praful Hinge claimed three wickets in his very first over, reducing RR to a precarious position early. He finished with impressive figures of 4/34. Fellow debutant Sakib Hussain complemented him perfectly, picking up 4/24, including key scalps that broke crucial partnerships. Together, the uncapped Indian pacers shared eight wickets, bundling out RR for 159 while defending a total of 216/6. Their combined effort has been hailed as one of the most remarkable debut performances in IPL history.

McClenaghan, who has previously worked with Mumbai Indians and is known for his sharp analysis of pace bowling, lauded the pair for showcasing raw talent, discipline, and the ability to perform under pressure on the biggest T20 stage. “Praful and Sakib have shown the Indian bowling future is in safe hands,” he remarked, emphasising how their success signals a strong pipeline of domestic pacers ready to step up. The comment comes amid ongoing discussions about the depth of India’s pace resources beyond established stars like Jasprit Bumrah.

Sakib Hussain, a promising talent from Bihar often described as the latest gem from the state’s growing cricket factory, has risen rapidly after a strong showing in the Ranji Trophy, where he claimed a five-wicket haul. Praful Hinge, representing Vidarbha, brought valuable first-class experience with consistent wicket-taking ability. Their selection by SRH’s bowling coach Varun Aaron reflected a bold strategy that paid rich dividends, with captain Ishan Kishan’s decision to hand them debut caps proving masterful.

The standout performances have ignited excitement among fans and experts about the emergence of fresh pace talent capable of challenging at the highest level. While the IPL remains a T20 platform, such dream debuts often serve as launchpads for international recognition, especially as selectors look to build a robust bench for future white-ball and red-ball assignments.

As IPL 2026 progresses, the exploits of Hinge and Hussain have not only boosted SRH’s campaign but also reinforced confidence in India’s domestic talent pool. McClenaghan’s endorsement adds weight to the narrative that the next generation of Indian pacers is ready to carry forward a proud legacy, ensuring the pace attack remains competitive on the global stage for years to come.
