Krunal Pandya Shuts Down Rumours of Rift With Hardik Pandya

A cricketer dismisses rumours with brief but impactful response

Rumours of a rift between Krunal Pandya and his brother Hardik Pandya have been effectively dismissed following a recent interaction, bringing clarity to speculation that had gained traction ahead of the Indian Premier League 2026 season. The Pandya brothers, currently the only high-profile sibling duo in the tournament, had been the subject of widespread social media chatter suggesting tension between them, despite the absence of any official confirmation or public fallout.

The speculation was largely driven by online discussions and the contrasting roles both players hold in the league. While Krunal is representing Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the defending champions, Hardik is leading Mumbai Indians, one of the most successful franchises in IPL history. Their professional rivalry, combined with their strong individual personalities, fueled assumptions among fans, even though neither player addressed the rumours directly at the time.

The narrative shifted during a rapid-fire segment in an interview with Cricbuzz, where Krunal’s responses subtly reinforced the strength of his bond with Hardik. When asked to name the best finishers in the game, Krunal included Hardik Pandya alongside Kieron Pollard, a remark widely interpreted as a clear sign of mutual respect and camaraderie. His selections also featured top names such as Chris Gayle as the best batter, Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni as the best captains, and Virat Kohli for the best cover drive, reflecting his perspective on the modern game.

Beyond addressing speculation, Krunal also reiterated his long-term ambition of representing India again at the international level. Having last played for the national team during the 2021 tour of Sri Lanka, he stated that his primary focus remains on performing consistently and contributing to team victories, trusting that opportunities will follow. With 5 ODIs and 19 T20Is to his name, along with 254 runs and 17 wickets across formats, Krunal emphasised that playing for India continues to be his ultimate goal, even as he concentrates on delivering strong performances in the IPL.
