KL Rahul produced a commanding batting performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, leading Delhi Capitals to a thrilling chase against Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur on Friday. Rajasthan Royals, batting first, posted a strong total of 225/6 in 20 overs, powered by a brilliant 90 off 50 balls from skipper Riyan Parag. Despite the massive target, Delhi Capitals responded confidently and successfully chased it down with five balls remaining, thanks largely to Rahul’s composed innings.

Rahul played a match-winning knock of 75 runs off just 40 deliveries, anchoring the innings while also maintaining a healthy strike rate. His innings included six boundaries and five sixes, showcasing a more aggressive and confident approach compared to his earlier reputation for slower starts in T20 cricket. Opening partner Pathum Nissanka also played a crucial role in the chase, scoring a quickfire 62 off 33 balls, helping DC build strong momentum at the top of the order.

Former New Zealand pacer Simon Doull praised Rahul’s improved batting approach, noting that the presence of an aggressive partner at the other end allowed him to settle into his innings more comfortably. According to Doull, when Rahul faces less pressure early on, he is able to play more freely and deliver strong performances for the team. He also highlighted how Nissanka’s aggressive intent complemented Rahul perfectly during the chase.

South Africa legend Shaun Pollock also appreciated Rahul’s adaptability in high-pressure chases, stating that the batter has evolved his game to suit different match situations. Pollock observed that Rahul now understands when to anchor and when to accelerate, especially while chasing big totals. With this performance, Rahul once again underlined his value to Delhi Capitals, combining maturity with timely aggression to guide his team in a high-scoring IPL encounter.
