Josh Inglis Tells BCCI He Can Feature in Only 25% of IPL 2026 Before Auction
Josh Inglis informs BCCI he can play only four IPL 2026 matches, citing scheduling and personal commitments.
Australian Wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis has registered for the IPL 2026 mega auction at a base price of Rs 2 crore but with a major caveat—he will be available for only four matches of the season, effectively limiting himself to 25 percent of the league stage. The 30-year-old, currently playing in the second Ashes Test against England at the Gabba, has formally conveyed his restricted availability to the BCCI, citing personal commitments believed to include his wedding plans.
Punjab Kings, for whom Inglis made a strong impression in his debut IPL season—helping them reach the final—had considered retaining him but ultimately released the player after learning of his limited participation. The franchise finished runners-up to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2025, with Inglis proving a reliable middle-order enforcer and gloveman.
According to a Cricbuzz report, Inglis is one of five overseas players who have declared partial availability. Australia’s Ashton Agar (65 per cent), William Sutherland (80 per cent), New Zealand’s Adam Milne (95 per cent), and South Africa’s Rilee Rossouw (20 per cent) have also informed the BCCI of their constraints. Such disclosures are expected to influence bidding strategies, with franchises likely to weigh the cost-benefit of investing heavily in players who may miss significant portions of the tournament.

Inglis is among several high-profile names entering the auction pool at the maximum base price of Rs 2 crore, alongside released stars like Sri Lanka’s Matheesha Pathirana, England’s Liam Livingstone, and Indian players Venkatesh Iyer and Ravi Bishnoi. The restricted availability tag, however, could dampen aggressive bidding for Inglis despite his proven IPL pedigree.
The IPL 2026 auction, scheduled for later this month, will see franchises rebuild squads after the mega reset, with player availability becoming a critical factor alongside form and price. For Inglis, the four-match limit represents a pragmatic trade-off between international commitments, personal milestones, and the lucrative T20 league.
