IPL 2026: SRH Aim To Extend Winning Streak As KKR Fight For Survival

IPL 2026 clash in Hyderabad sees SRH strong form meet KKR’s must-win situation.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in a crucial IPL 2026 clash at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, with the hosts aiming to extend their dominant run while the visitors fight to keep their playoff hopes alive. SRH enter the match placed third on the points table with 12 points, while KKR sit eighth with just five points from eight matches, making this a must-win encounter for the defending champions.

SRH come into the contest in exceptional form, having won five consecutive matches and producing some of the most explosive batting displays of the season. Their most recent outing saw them chase down a mammoth 244-run target against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede in just 18.4 overs, showcasing their aggressive intent and batting depth. Players like Travis Head, Heinrich Klaasen, and Abhishek Sharma have been central to their dominance, consistently providing strong starts and finishing power.

KKR, on the other hand, are trying to revive a faltering campaign after a slow start that saw them go winless in their first six matches. However, they have managed back-to-back wins recently, including a dramatic Super Over victory against Lucknow Super Giants. Rinku Singh’s unbeaten 83 in that match once again highlighted his ability to rescue the team under pressure, while Sunil Narine played a key role in sealing the win in the Super Over.

The two teams have already met once earlier this season, where SRH secured a commanding 65-run victory after posting 226/8. That match saw strong contributions from Klaasen, Abhishek Sharma, and Travis Head, while KKR struggled to keep up with the required chase. SRH have since been strengthened further by the return of captain Pat Cummins, adding balance and control to their bowling attack, while their batting unit continues to look one of the most dangerous in the tournament.

For KKR, inconsistency at the top of the order remains a major concern, placing additional responsibility on their middle order and all-rounders. Varun Chakravarthy’s return to form has been a positive sign for their bowling unit, but team selection decisions, including the availability of Matheesha Pathirana, remain subject to conditions and final assessment ahead of the match.

The match is scheduled to begin at 3:30 PM IST. Fans can watch the live telecast on the Star Sports Network, while live streaming will be available on JioHotstar. The Hyderabad pitch is expected to favour batters early with good bounce, though spinners may come into play later in the afternoon heat, with temperatures expected to touch 40°C. A first-innings score in the range of 185–200 is likely to be competitive in what promises to be a high-intensity contest.
