Punjab Kings (PBKS) are taking on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in an IPL 2026 match, with the contest unfolding as RCB set a challenging target of 223 runs after a dominant batting performance. RCB posted a strong total of 222/4 in their 20 overs, powered by an aggressive and well-paced innings. The foundation of the score was built through consistent partnerships and calculated acceleration in the middle and death overs, putting Punjab Kings under immediate pressure in the chase.
In response, PBKS suffered an early setback when Bhuvneshwar Kumar struck in the opening exchanges, removing Priyansh Arya for a duck. The early wicket gave RCB an immediate advantage and forced Punjab Kings to rebuild under pressure while chasing a steep target of 223 runs.
At the crease, Prabhsimran Singh and Cooper Connolly were tasked with stabilising the innings after the early loss. Their responsibility was to prevent further collapse and keep PBKS in touch with the required run rate against an in-form RCB bowling attack.

Earlier in the innings, RCB’s batting effort was anchored by Venkatesh Iyer, who remained unbeaten on 73 and provided a strong finishing push. Virat Kohli contributed a fluent 58, striking four boundaries and three sixes, and combined with Devdutt Padikkal, who scored 45, in a crucial 76-run partnership for the second wicket.
The momentum of the innings was further boosted by a 60-run stand between Kohli and Iyer before Kohli’s dismissal. Iyer then accelerated sharply, smashing eight fours and four sixes, helping RCB cross the 200-run mark with ease. For PBKS, Harpreet Brar picked up two wickets, but the overall bowling effort struggled to contain the flow of runs as RCB ended with a commanding total.
