Harshit Rana Ruled Out of IPL 2026 With Knee Injury, KKR Yet to Name Replacement

Harshit Rana will miss IPL 2026 with a knee injury as KKR seek a replacement pacer.

The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have suffered a major setback ahead of the Indian Premier League 2026 season, as fast bowler Harshit Rana has reportedly been ruled out of the tournament due to injury. The IPL 2026 season is scheduled to begin on March 28, but Rana is unlikely to recover in time after suffering a knee injury earlier this year.

The injury occurred during a warm-up match against the South Africa national cricket team ahead of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in February. Since then, the pacer has been sidelined and has not returned to competitive cricket. According to reports, team officials confirmed that Rana will not be available for the upcoming IPL campaign, although the franchise has not yet decided on a replacement.

A team official stated that Rana’s absence could create opportunities for other bowlers in the squad, including Vaibhav Arora, Umran Malik, Kartik Tyagi, and Akash Deep, who may step up during the tournament. The franchise is expected to monitor the situation before making a final decision about a replacement player.

Meanwhile, KKR recently strengthened their bowling attack by signing Zimbabwe fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani for IPL 2026. The 6-foot-8 pacer has been one of the standout performers for the Zimbabwe national cricket team in T20 cricket and was among the joint third-highest wicket-takers in the recent T20 World Cup with 13 wickets, helping Zimbabwe reach the Super Eights stage.

Muzarabani brings considerable T20 experience, with more than 90 wickets in over 80 T20 Internationals, and is known for his pace, bounce, and ability to take wickets at crucial moments. His signing also follows the earlier exit of Bangladesh left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman, who was released by KKR last December.
