Elderly Fan Suffers Facial Injury After Being Hit by Priyansh Arya's Six During PBKS vs RR Match

Elderly fan hospitalised after being struck in the face by Priyansh Arya's six during the PBKS vs RR match.

An elderly spectator was injured during the IPL 2026 match between Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals after being struck in the face by a six hit by Punjab batter Priyansh Arya. The incident occurred early in the innings on Tuesday and briefly shifted attention away from the on-field action as nearby fans rushed to assist the injured man in the stands.

According to reports, the blow landed during the second over of Punjab’s innings, bowled by Rajasthan pacer Nandre Burger. Witnesses gathered around the spectator as blood flowed from his face and stained his shirt. Videos circulating online showed bystanders attempting to comfort him and provide immediate help before medical assistance arrived.

One fan was seen helping clean the wound and trying to stop the bleeding while stadium staff reportedly arranged for further treatment. Local reports indicated that the injured spectator was later taken to a nearby hospital for medical evaluation. There was no immediate official update on the severity of the injury following the incident.

Priyansh Arya, whose shot caused the accidental injury, played a quick cameo of 29 runs from 11 balls, striking five boundaries and one six. He was dismissed in the following over by Jofra Archer after mistiming a pull shot. Arya has been in strong form this season, with 283 runs from seven matches at an average above 40 before this game.

Punjab Kings went on to post a formidable 222 for 4 after half-centuries from Marcus Stoinis, who blasted an unbeaten 62 off 22 balls, and Prabhsimran Singh, who made 59 from 44 deliveries. The total appeared highly competitive and placed Rajasthan Royals under pressure in the chase.

However, Rajasthan Royals completed a remarkable run chase with four balls remaining. Strong contributions from Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Yashasvi Jaiswal and an unbeaten partnership between Donovan Ferreira and Shubham Dubey secured victory. Punjab remained at the top of the table despite the loss, while Rajasthan climbed to third place in the IPL 2026 standings.
