DC Holds All the Aces as it Takes on GT at Ahmedabad
Both form and record point to the visitors
As the IPL gets near to the play-offs segment, some teams would make some decisive moves at the top. This season, the Delhi Capitals is in that position to shift gears. After winning five of its six matches, it is well ensconced as the leader. And it would like to consolidate that at the Narendra Modi Stadium this afternoon when it takes on the home team Gujarat Titans.
It is not just the momentum, even the record seems to favour Delhi when it meets GT. It has a 2-0 record at the same stadium against the same opponent.
Delhi Capitals go into the match riding high on confidence after a dramatic Super Over victory against Rajasthan Royals. KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs played pivotal roles in securing the win, showcasing DC's ability to perform under pressure. The team has been bolstered by the exceptional form of Mitchell Starc, whose yorker spree against RR turned the tide in their favour, and Kuldeep Yadav, who continues to impress with his wicket-taking prowess.

GT is not too far behind DC. It is in third place with four wins from six. GT will look to bounce back after a disappointing loss to Lucknow SuperGiants in its previous outing. Despite strong performances from Gill and Sai Sudharsan, who have been consistent with the bat, GT's inability to defend a competitive total exposed vulnerabilities in its bowling attack. Rashid Khan’s lack of wickets and profligate bowling has been a major worry this season.
Both teams have explosive batting lineups, with DC relying on KL Rahul and Stubbs, while GT will look to Gill, Sai Sudharsan, and Jos Buttler to set the tone. How long will DC persist with Jake Fraser-McGurk, who hasn't got going at all, is something to be seen. If Faf du Plessis is fit, he will likely replace him.
The Narendra Modi Stadium is known for its batting-friendly conditions, making it likely that the match will be a high-scoring affair. Captains winning the toss are expected to opt for chasing, given the dew factor and the ease of batting under lights.
