CSK Vs MI: Mumbai Indians Scrape Through to 155; Stage Set for CSK Show

CSK vs MI: Mumbai Indians Post 155/9 in 20 Overs, Noor Ahmad Shines for CSK

In a gripping IPL 2025 encounter at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) bowlers, led by the sensational Noor Ahmad, restricted Mumbai Indians (MI) to 155/9 in their 20 overs.

CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad’s decision to field first paid off as his attack exploited the spin-friendly Chepauk surface to stifle MI’s batting might.

MI’s innings began on a sour note with Rohit Sharma falling for a duck, caught by Shivam Dube off Khaleel Ahmed in the fourth ball. Ryan Rickelton (13 off 7) and Will Jacks (11 off 7) offered brief fireworks but perished early to Khaleel and Ravichandran Ashwin, respectively.

Suryakumar Yadav, captaining MI, anchored with 29 off 26 before being stumped by MS Dhoni off Noor Ahmad. Tilak Varma’s 31 off 25 provided hope, but Noor Ahmad’s brilliance saw him trap Varma lbw and dismantle the middle order, finishing with 4/18—dismissing Yadav, Robin Minz (3 off 9), Varma, and Naman Dhir (17 off 12).

Deepak Chahar’s late flourish of 28 not out off 15, with two fours and two sixes, pushed MI past 150. Khaleel Ahmed impressed with 3/29, while Nathan Ellis (1/38) and Ashwin (1/31) contributed.

Noor Ahmad’s spell, however, stole the show, conceding just 4.5 runs per over.

With Trent Boult (1 off 2) and Satyanarayana Raju (1* off 1) falling late, MI’s total looks defendable but vulnerable. CSK will fancy their chances chasing 156 on a pitch favoring their spin-heavy lineup.
