CSK Pacer Anshul Kamboj Breaks Rashid Khan’s Unwanted IPL Record Ahead of 2026

Anshul Kamboj surpasses Rashid Khan to set unwanted IPL record.

Chennai Super Kings pacer Anshul Kamboj registered an unwanted Indian Premier League record during the 2026 season after becoming the bowler to concede the most sixes in a single edition of the tournament. The young fast bowler has now been hit for 34 sixes this season, surpassing the previous record of 33 set by Rashid Khan in IPL 2025.

Kamboj reached the unwanted milestone during Chennai Super Kings’ league-stage clash against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Thursday. The CSK pacer had initially impressed during the early phase of the season with his pace and wicket-taking ability, but his performances have declined sharply in recent matches as opposition batters increasingly targeted him aggressively.

His struggles were particularly evident in CSK’s earlier match against Lucknow Super Giants, where he endured one of the most expensive outings of the season. Kamboj conceded eight sixes in that match alone, which is among the highest number of sixes given away by a bowler in a single IPL innings. He was also struck for four consecutive sixes on two separate occasions during the same game, highlighting the difficulties he has faced with consistency and control.

Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans posted a formidable total of 229 for four against Chennai Super Kings in Ahmedabad. Captain Shubman Gill and opener Sai Sudharsan stitched together a century partnership that laid the foundation for the massive score, while Jos Buttler added further momentum with a quick half-century in the latter stages of the innings.

The high-scoring total placed significant pressure on Chennai Super Kings, who needed 230 runs to secure victory and keep their playoff hopes alive in IPL 2026. With the team struggling near the lower end of the points table, the match carried major importance for CSK’s qualification chances heading into the final phase of the tournament.

Despite the disappointing record, Kamboj remains one of the younger Indian fast bowlers being closely watched for his raw pace and attacking approach. However, analysts believe the difficult season could become an important learning phase for the pacer as he works on improving his execution under pressure in high-scoring T20 conditions.
