Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr Need One Win To Secure Saudi Pro League Title, Scenarios Explained
Al Nassr near Saudi title as scenarios become clearer.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr remain firmly in control of the Saudi Pro League title race despite a dramatic late setback against Al Hilal that denied them what could have been a decisive victory in the Riyadh derby. A stoppage-time own goal by goalkeeper Bento forced a 1-1 draw, leaving the championship race alive heading into the final round of matches.
Al Nassr had been seconds away from sealing a crucial win before the late defensive error turned celebrations into frustration. Ronaldo was visibly dejected on the bench as the result meant his side could not mathematically secure the title in that match. Despite the disappointment, Al Nassr still sit at the top of the table with 83 points from 33 games, holding a narrow but significant advantage over Al Hilal.
The title race remains finely balanced, with Al Hilal on 78 points and two matches remaining. While Al Hilal have maintained an unbeaten league record this season, Al Nassr’s higher number of wins has kept them ahead in the standings. The Saudi Pro League’s use of head-to-head records as a tiebreaker adds further complexity to the scenario, particularly if the two sides finish level on points.

Mathematically, Al Nassr’s path is straightforward: a victory in their final match against Damac Club on May 21 will take them to 86 points and guarantee the league title regardless of Al Hilal’s results. However, any slip-up could reopen the door for their rivals. A draw would leave them vulnerable due to Al Hilal’s head-to-head advantage, meaning they would likely lose out if both teams finish level on points.
If Al Nassr were to lose their final game, Al Hilal would still need to win both of their remaining fixtures to overtake them and claim the title. Any dropped points by Al Hilal in that scenario would effectively hand the championship to Ronaldo’s side. This makes the final week of the season critical for both clubs, with little margin for error.
Bookmakers continue to strongly favour Al Nassr to lift the trophy, with major betting firms such as bet365, William Hill, and Betfair pricing them as clear favourites. Despite Al Hilal’s unbeaten run and mathematical possibilities, odds suggest the title remains firmly in Al Nassr’s control, provided they secure at least a draw in their final fixture.
