Axar Patel Shares Funny IPL Incident Involving Ashutosh Sharma and DC Physio

Axar Patel recalls Ashutosh Sharma's unexpected remark that stunned DC's physiotherapist.

A humorous anecdote shared by Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel has gone viral among cricket fans after he recalled a light-hearted exchange involving teammate Ashutosh Sharma and the franchise's physiotherapist during an Indian Premier League match. The incident occurred during a tense moment when Ashutosh was struck on the helmet while batting, prompting medical staff to conduct a routine concussion check as per safety protocols.

Speaking during an interview, Axar recounted how Delhi Capitals physiotherapist Craig Anthony de Weymarn rushed to assess Ashutosh's condition after the blow. Before the physio could even begin asking questions regarding his well-being, Ashutosh reportedly responded with an unexpected and humorous remark that immediately left everyone involved laughing.

According to Axar, the batter's spontaneous response caught the physiotherapist completely off guard. Instead of answering questions about his condition, Ashutosh delivered a joke that broke the tension surrounding the incident. The unexpected comment reportedly left both the player and the physio laughing, making it difficult for the medical assessment to proceed immediately.

Axar said the physiotherapist later shared the story with him, describing how the interaction became one of the funniest moments he had witnessed on a cricket field. The Delhi Capitals skipper praised Ashutosh's sense of humor, noting that the young cricketer often brings energy and entertainment to the dressing room and can lighten even the most serious situations.

While the amusing incident generated attention off the field, Delhi Capitals endured another disappointing IPL campaign. Under Axar's leadership, the franchise failed to qualify for the playoffs for the second consecutive season. The team finished fifth in IPL 2025 before slipping to sixth place in the latest edition, extending its wait for a return to the knockout stages.

Delhi's campaign was marked by inconsistent performances despite strong contributions from KL Rahul, who once again scored more than 500 runs during the season. The team's batting unit struggled to provide enough firepower, while the bowling attack was affected by the absence of Mitchell Starc for a significant portion of the tournament. With questions surrounding both squad balance and leadership, Delhi Capitals are expected to evaluate key changes ahead of the next IPL season.
