Ashok Sharma Bowls 154.2 kmph to Claim IPL 2026's Fastest Delivery, Ranks Sixth All-Time

Ashok Sharma made headlines in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2026 season after delivering a scorching 154.2 kmph ball, the fastest of the tournament so far. Representing Gujarat Titans, the 23-year-old pacer achieved the feat against Rajasthan Royals, sending down a fiery yorker to Dhruv Jurel on the final ball of the 16th over.

The delivery not only became the quickest of IPL 2026—surpassing Anrich Nortje’s earlier mark of 150.9 kmph—but also placed Sharma sixth on the all-time list of fastest balls in IPL history. The record for the fastest delivery still belongs to Shaun Tait, who clocked 157.7 kmph for Rajasthan Royals in 2011, while India’s fastest remains Umran Malik’s 157 kmph effort.

Other notable entries in the elite pace list include Lockie Ferguson (157.3 kmph), Mayank Yadav (156.7 kmph), and Nortje (156.2 kmph). Sharma’s achievement places him among an exclusive group of express pacers who have consistently pushed the speed barrier in the IPL.

Beyond the record-breaking moment, Sharma impressed with his overall spell, regularly clocking speeds above 145 kmph and even breaching the 150 kmph mark twice in a single over. He finished with figures of 1/37 in four overs, claiming the wicket of Shimron Hetmyer and troubling batters with his raw pace and accuracy.

Sharma’s rise has been rapid, having earned his IPL opportunity after a strong showing in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he emerged as Rajasthan’s leading wicket-taker. Bought by Gujarat Titans for Rs 90 lakh in the IPL 2026 auction, the young pacer is now emerging as one of the most exciting fast-bowling prospects in the league, with his latest feat reinforcing his growing reputation.
