Ambati Rayudu Demands Four CSK Changes For RCB Clash, Names Akeal Hosein as Must-Play
Rayudu backs Akeal Hosein to bowl against Virat Kohli in CSK's must-win RCB clash.
Chennai Super Kings have been urged to make key changes to their playing XI ahead of their crucial Indian Premier League 2026 clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, with former India cricketer Ambati Rayudu recommending the inclusion of West Indies all-rounder Akeal Hosein.
CSK have endured a difficult start to their IPL 2026 campaign, losing their opening two matches with both batting and bowling units struggling to deliver. As they prepare to face a strong RCB side led by Virat Kohli, the team management is under pressure to reassess combinations and make impactful changes.
Rayudu specifically highlighted Akeal Hosein, who was acquired for ₹2 crore in the auction, as a crucial addition to the lineup. Known for his left-arm spin and ability to contribute with the bat, Hosein is seen as a strategic option, particularly in the powerplay overs where he has the ability to break partnerships early.

He also suggested that Hosein could be effective against RCB’s top-order, including Phil Salt, by applying pressure from the outset. Rayudu further recommended a balanced combination featuring Dewald Brevis, Jamie Overton, and Noor Ahmad to strengthen both batting depth and bowling versatility.
Despite a disappointing start, CSK have shown glimpses of potential, particularly through Jamie Overton, who impressed with a quickfire 43 in the opening match. However, his exclusion in the subsequent game raised questions about team selection, especially after another defeat.
Having finished at the bottom of the standings in the previous IPL season, CSK are under significant pressure to bounce back. With crucial matches ahead, getting the team combination right could prove decisive in keeping their playoff hopes alive in the tournament.
