Akash Singh Breaks Silence On Signature Celebration In IPL 2026 Season

LSG pacer Akash Singh explains his signature celebration in IPL 2026.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pacer Akash Singh has explained the inspiration behind his unique on-field celebration during his side’s seven-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings (CSK), saying the gesture is rooted in self-motivation and mental reinforcement. The left-arm pacer grabbed attention after each of his three wickets when he pulled out a small piece of paper from his pocket and displayed a handwritten message that read: “Akki on fire — Akash knows how to take wickets in T20 cricket.”

The celebration quickly went viral, with fans and commentators noting its unusual and expressive nature during the IPL contest.Speaking after the match, Akash said the message is a form of self-affirmation designed to boost confidence and maintain focus under pressure. He added that different players find motivation in different ways, and for him, writing down thoughts and manifesting outcomes helps reinforce belief in his abilities on the field.

“Different things motivate different people. Some days I show the paper, some days I don’t, but it reflects my mindset on that particular day,” he said. Akash further explained that he often writes down thoughts during quiet moments, especially before sleep, which later serve as reminders of his goals and performance targets.

He credited the backing of the LSG support staff for his development, highlighting the role of coaches Bharat Arun, Zaheer Khan, and Tom Moody in keeping him prepared even when not included in the playing XI.

Akash also acknowledged the influence of captain Rishabh Pant, saying the wicketkeeper-batter encouraged him to trust his strengths, particularly his ability to swing the new ball both ways. He added that understanding opposition batters from previous IPL experiences, including his stint with CSK, helped him execute his plans more effectively during the match.
