Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Prioritises Focus Over Spotlight Ahead Of IPL 2026

14-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi stresses focus on cricket, brushing off early fame ahead of IPL 2026.

At just 14 years old, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has emerged as one of Indian cricket’s brightest young talents. Signed by the Rajasthan Royals as the youngest player in IPL history, the left-handed batter has impressed observers with his fearless strokeplay and remarkably calm mindset for his age.

Despite the spotlight that comes with being a teenage prodigy, Sooryavanshi remains focused on the game rather than the attention surrounding him. “I try to focus on what I have to do. Attention will come if you are doing well in any field. I try to only focus on my game,” he said, reflecting a maturity beyond his years.

Looking back, his proudest moment came in the ICC Under-19 Men’s World Cup final earlier this year, where he played a match-winning knock. “Personal favourite is the final knock in U19 World Cup. I could only play one U19 World Cup. It was a proud moment for me to score a hundred in the final,” he said. That innings — an astonishing 175 off 80 balls against England — propelled India to its sixth U19 title and cemented his reputation as a clutch performer.

Sooryavanshi shared his thoughts during the Rajasthan Royals’ IPL 2026 jersey launch in Jaipur, where JK Lakshmi Cement was announced as the team’s principal sponsor. With the new season approaching, his fearless batting and disciplined approach are expected to add significant strength to the Royals’ lineup.

Observers note that his focus on preparation and performance, rather than external praise, sets him apart from many young athletes thrust into early fame. Coaches and mentors have praised his temperament, saying it is rare to see a 14-year-old handle pressure at the international stage with such composure.

As the Royals gear up for another campaign, the expectations on the Bihar-born prodigy are only growing. Yet, Sooryavanshi’s mindset remains clear: dedication to the game comes first, and success will follow.
