Yuvraj Singh Opens Up On Lalit Modi Offering Porsche 911 For Six Sixes

Yuvraj Singh reveals story behind Lalit Modi’s Porsche 911 offer.

Former Indian cricket star Yuvraj Singh has finally opened up about the story behind the iconic six sixes he hit against England’s Stuart Broad during the 2007 T20 World Cup and the subsequent offer of a Porsche 911 from then-IPL commissioner Lalit Modi.

In a candid revelation, Yuvraj said that while the offer made headlines at the time, the situation was more nuanced than popularly reported. “Yes, the offer was there, but it was not an immediate transaction,” he explained. “It was more of a symbolic gesture recognising the achievement, and it came with certain formalities that were standard for such incentives.”

The six sixes in a single over had already cemented Yuvraj’s status as one of India’s most explosive hitters. The feat, accomplished during India’s T20 World Cup campaign in South Africa, remains a milestone in cricket history. The reported Porsche offer added to the lore, but Yuvraj clarified that it was not a simple reward handed over on the spot.

Yuvraj also reflected on how the incident shaped his early IPL experiences. “The attention was massive, and offers like these, while flattering, were part of the hype surrounding the new league. It was exciting, but I was more focused on performing for the team than on material rewards,” he said.

Lalit Modi had often promoted incentives for standout performances in the IPL’s early years to attract attention to the fledgling league. Yuvraj’s six sixes moment became a symbolic example of how high-impact performances were celebrated, even if the actual delivery of rewards involved more procedural steps.

Looking back, Yuvraj described the episode as a “fun story” from his career. While the Porsche narrative caught the public imagination, he emphasised that the real joy came from the achievement itself, rather than any material recognition, underscoring his focus on cricket over accolades.
