World Championship Of Legends Returns This October With Cricket Icons Back In Action
World Championship of Legends returns this October with retired cricket stars.
The World Championship of Legends (WCL) is set to return for its third season in October 2026, with organisers positioning the tournament as the world’s second most-watched cricket league after two commercially successful editions. The tournament, which features retired international stars representing their national sides, has gained attention for reviving some of cricket’s most recognisable rivalries and personalities in a competitive T20 format.
Organisers said Season 3 will build on the momentum generated by the previous two editions, during which fixtures involving India and Pakistan, England and Australia, and other traditional rivals attracted strong global viewership and online engagement. Unlike exhibition-style matches, the WCL markets itself around former international players who were directly involved in many of the sport’s defining contests over the past two decades.
The league’s earlier editions featured several prominent former cricketers, including AB de Villiers, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Hashim Amla, Brett Lee, Shahid Afridi, Chris Gayle and Eoin Morgan. Their participation helped the league appeal to audiences driven by nostalgia as well as fans seeking competitive entertainment involving well-known former players.

According to figures released by the organisers, the second season of the tournament recorded an estimated 423 million global viewers and generated more than 1.2 billion digital impressions across platforms. Season 3 is expected to feature seven teams — India Champions, Pakistan Champions, England Champions, Australia Champions, South Africa Champions, West Indies Champions and Bangladesh Champions, with Bangladesh being introduced as a new entrant this year.
Harshit Tomar, founder and chief executive of the league, said the tournament was created as a platform celebrating cricketers who shaped the sport across generations. He stated that the organisers aim to expand the tournament’s reach further in the upcoming season through larger-scale competition and broader audience engagement.
Actor Ajay Devgn, who is among the league’s co-owners, described the WCL as a blend of nostalgia, entertainment and cricketing legacy. Organisers said details regarding squads, fixtures, venues and broadcasting partnerships for Season 3 will be announced gradually over the coming months as preparations for the tournament continue.
