VVS Laxman Emerges As Future Option Despite No Immediate Gambhir Replacement Plan

VVS Laxman has returned to his role at the BCCI Centre of Excellence after completing a successful interim stint as India’s head coach during the Zimbabwe tour, but his recent performance has reignited discussions about his future role in the national team setup. While Laxman is not currently considered the frontrunner to replace Gautam Gambhir as India’s permanent head coach, his fresh approach and upcoming assignment at the Asian Games have kept the possibility open. Laxman stepped in as interim coach for India’s short Zimbabwe tour at a time when the team was looking to regain confidence after a difficult run under Gambhir.

India had suffered setbacks during the England and Ireland assignments, raising questions about consistency and team management.
