Virat Kohli reflects after IPL 2026 century against KKR.
Virat Kohli produced a match-winning century and reflected on the importance of enjoying the game and handling pressure after guiding Royal Challengers Bengaluru to a six-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League. Kohli’s unbeaten 105 off 60 balls marked his ninth IPL hundred, extending his record and helping his side return to the top of the points table.
Chasing 193, Kohli anchored the innings with a composed and controlled knock, hitting 11 fours and three sixes. He brought up his first run of the innings with a single in the opening over, a moment he later acknowledged as significant after a lean patch in the previous matches. His innings ensured that Royal Challengers Bengaluru reached 194/4 in 19.1 overs, sealing a dominant chase against Kolkata Knight Riders.
After the match, Kohli said he deliberately kept his celebration muted due to the importance of the points in the league stage. He emphasized his focus on contributing to team success rather than personal milestones, stating that performing for the team mattered more than individual records. The veteran batter also highlighted how personal failures often motivate him to return stronger at the highest level.

Kohli spoke candidly about the mental demands of top-level cricket, describing pressure as a “privilege” that helps him stay grounded and improve his game. He admitted feeling nervous early in the innings and stressed the importance of getting through that phase to settle into rhythm. According to him, setbacks are essential in shaping performance and building consistency over time.On his longevity and record-breaking achievements, Kohli said his passion for batting remains unchanged despite years at the top.
He reflected on the transient nature of a sporting career, noting that it “is going to finish one day” and expressing a desire to make the most of every opportunity in pressure situations. He added that his motivation continues to come from the simple joy of striking the ball cleanly and competing at the highest level.
The innings once again underlined Kohli’s central role in RCB’s campaign, both as a run-scorer and as a stabilising presence in high-pressure chases. His performance not only reinforced his record in the IPL but also strengthened Bengaluru’s position at the top of the standings.
