T20 World Cup 2026: India Face Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan Concerns vs Namibia

Abhishek Sharma discharged after illness; Ishan Kishan has toe blow scare.

India take on Namibia in their second Group A fixture of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Thursday, aiming to register a second consecutive victory in the tournament. However, the build-up to the contest has been overshadowed by fitness concerns within the Indian camp, particularly surrounding opener Abhishek Sharma.

Abhishek, who had been unwell earlier this week, was discharged from hospital on the eve of the match. While his release has provided relief to the team management, uncertainty remains over his match readiness, especially with a high-voltage clash against Pakistan just days away. The team is expected to make a late assessment before finalising the playing XI.

India has also been monitoring Ishan Kishan’s condition after the wicketkeeper-batter was struck on the toe by a Jasprit Bumrah delivery during a net session. Although the left-hander resumed batting after receiving brief medical attention, his fitness status will be closely watched ahead of the Namibia encounter.

Led by Suryakumar Yadav, India began their campaign strongly and will look to maintain momentum against Namibia, who are considered underdogs in the group. With squad rotation and workload management in mind, the team management may weigh the risks of fielding players carrying minor niggles.

The fixture also serves as crucial preparation for India’s marquee showdown against Pakistan, one of the most anticipated matches of the tournament. As fans await live score updates from Delhi, attention remains firmly fixed on team combinations and injury updates that could shape India’s path in the competition.
