Pakistan head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed faced pointed questions during his press conference after the second day's play in the second Test against England at Lord's, with the discussion moving beyond cricket to the controversy surrounding an interview involving former Pakistan captain Imran Khan's sons. Sarfaraz appeared uncomfortable when asked about the issue and said he was unaware of the conversation reportedly held between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) regarding the interview. The press conference came after the conclusion of the second day's proceedings at Lord's, where attention would ordinarily have centred on the Test match and the performances of the two teams.

However, questions surrounding the interview involving Imran Khan's sons became a prominent part of the interaction. Sarfaraz was asked about the reported discussions between the two cricket boards concerning the decision to allow Michael Atherton to interview them. Sarfaraz made it clear that he did not have information about the alleged conversation between the PCB and ECB. The Pakistan coach indicated that the matter was outside his knowledge and appeared keen to steer the discussion back toward cricket. His response reflected the distinction between the responsibilities of the coaching staff and the administrative decisions taken by the cricket boards.

The issue had generated attention because Michael Atherton, the former England captain and a prominent cricket broadcaster, was involved in an interview with Imran Khan's sons. Sarfaraz, however, did not offer details about the matter and repeatedly maintained that he was not aware of the conversations between the PCB and ECB. Their appearance in an interview with Atherton consequently became a talking point during Pakistan's tour of England.

For Sarfaraz, however, the immediate focus remains the Test series against England. The second Test at Lord's represents an important assignment for the Pakistan side, with the coaching staff under pressure to manage performances and maintain the team's focus during a high-profile overseas series. Questions surrounding the interview have added an unusual off-field dimension to the team's campaign. Sarfaraz's comments ultimately offered little clarity on the reported PCB-ECB discussions because he said he was not aware of them. Rather than confirming or denying details surrounding the interview arrangements, he sought to distance himself from the administrative issue.
