Rinku Singh Slams 48-Ball Ton Ahead of Asia Cup Debut!

Rinku’s blazing 108 in UPT20 boosts confidence ahead of Asia Cup 2025 opener in Dubai.

Rinku Singh, the dynamic left-handed batter, sent a resounding message to selectors and rivals alike with a breathtaking 108 off just 48 balls in the UPT20 League, days after securing his spot in India’s Asia Cup 2025 squad. Representing Meerut Mavericks against Gorakhpur Lions, Rinku’s explosive innings, featuring seven fours and eight sixes, powered his team to a remarkable victory while chasing 168, despite a precarious 38 for 4.

The century, only Rinku’s second fifty-plus score in his last 12 matches, comes at a critical juncture as he prepares for the Asia Cup, starting September 10 in Dubai. Despite an inconsistent run with Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL, Rinku’s all-around performance in the UPT20 League, including his contributions with the ball, has bolstered his case. Former Indian batter Mohammed Kaif highlighted Rinku’s bowling as a key factor in his selection, noting, “Rinku Singh is bowling in the UPT20 League as well. Since Washington Sundar is not in the squad, Rinku can bowl 2-3 overs on the UAE pitch.”

India, led by captain Suryakumar Yadav and vice-captain Shubman Gill, will open their Asia Cup campaign against the UAE on September 10, followed by a high-stakes clash with Pakistan on September 14 in Dubai. Their final group-stage match is scheduled against Oman on September 19 in Abu Dhabi. Rinku’s inclusion in the 15-member squad, alongside stars like Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, and Sanju Samson, underscores his growing importance to the team.
