Prasidh Krishna Ruled Out of Final ODI Against West Indies
Anshul Kamboj replaces him; Washington Sundar skips T20Is for Tests.
India fast bowler Prasidh Krishna has been ruled out of the third and final ODI against the West Indies after suffering a hamstring injury during the second match in Guwahati. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed on Thursday that Prasidh will miss the series finale on October 3 and will be replaced by Anshul Kamboj. Prasidh bowled five overs in the second ODI, conceding 45 runs and taking one wicket, before leaving the field and returning to the dressing room. Kamboj will join the Indian squad in Chandigarh ahead of the final ODI.
The decision to leave Prasidh out comes with the team management also considering India's upcoming two-Test series against New Zealand in November. The BCCI said the management did not want to take any risks with the pacer, who is expected to be part of the Test preparations. His injury adds to the concerns around India's fast-bowling resources, with Hardik Pandya, Varun Chakaravarthy and Harshit Rana also currently sidelined. The extent of Prasidh's hamstring injury and his availability for the New Zealand Tests will depend on his recovery and further assessment.
The BCCI also announced a change to India's T20I squad for the five-match series against the West Indies. Washington Sundar has been withdrawn from the squad after consultation between the Senior Selection Committee and the team management. Naman Dhir will replace him in the T20I squad. The decision has been taken with the November Test series in mind, with Washington set to use the upcoming Ranji Trophy season to get more red-ball cricket under his belt before the Test assignments.

“With the Ranji Trophy season commencing on October 11, Washington will get an opportunity to play red-ball cricket for his state team and prepare for the Test series,” the BCCI said in its official release. Washington's withdrawal means he will not feature in the five T20Is against the West Indies, which are scheduled to begin on October 6 following the conclusion of the ODI series. The move allows him to focus on longer-format preparation while the national team continues its limited-overs commitments against the West Indies.
India have already secured the ODI series after recording an eight-wicket victory over the West Indies in the second match. The win gave India an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series, with the final ODI now set to be played without Prasidh. India chased down a target of 406 in the second match, with Shubman Gill scoring a double century and Rohit Sharma registering his 35th international ODI hundred. The result also confirmed the series win ahead of the final match.
Following the injury-related changes, India's updated ODI squad includes Shubman Gill as captain, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ruturaj Gaikwad, KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Gurnoor Brar, Mohammed Siraj, Auqib Nabi, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Naman Dhir and Anshul Kamboj. The T20I squad is led by Shreyas Iyer and includes Abhishek Sharma, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson, Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Ravi Bishnoi, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Arshdeep Singh, Prince Yadav, Mayank Yadav and Naman Dhir.
