Pakistan U-19 On Brink of Victory Against Bangladesh in Asia Cup Semi-Final

Pakistan U-19 close in on win after dismissing Bangladesh for 121 in rain-curtailed semi-final.

Pakistan Under-19 advanced closer to the final of the Under-19 Asia Cup 2025 with a commanding performance in the second semi-final against defending champions Bangladesh Under-19 at The Sevens Stadium on December 19. After rain reduced the match to 27 overs per side, Pakistan's bowlers, led by Abdul Subhan's four-wicket haul, restricted Bangladesh to a modest 121 all out in 26.3 overs, with no batter managing a substantial score.

Pakistan captain Farhan Yousaf won the toss and elected to field first, a decision that paid off as the pace attack dismantled the Bangladesh top order early. Openers Zawad Abrar and MD Rifat Beg fell cheaply, and despite brief resistance from captain Md Azizul Hakim Tamim, the innings folded quickly under tight bowling and disciplined fielding.

In response, Pakistan's chase got off to a shaky start with Hamza Zahoor dismissed early, but openers Usman Khan and Sameer Minhas steadied the innings. As the match progressed, contributions from Minhas and others pushed Pakistan comfortably towards the target, reaching scores like 103/2 in 13 overs with a high run rate, requiring minimal runs in the remaining overs.

Bangladesh, who topped Group B unbeaten, struggled to defend the low total amid Pakistan's aggressive batting. The winner of this semi-final will face the victor of the first semi-final between India and Sri Lanka in the tournament final, as Pakistan eyed a strong finish to secure their spot.
