Old Video of Yograj Singh Explaining His Ideal Choice for Yuvraj's Wife Goes Viral

Former cricketer and actor Yograj Singh has once again drawn public attention after past comments about his son Yuvraj Singh and daughter-in-law Hazel Keech resurfaced online. The remarks, originally made during earlier interviews, have gone viral on social media amid renewed discussion about Yograj’s outspoken views on family, parenting, and relationships. In one of the clips now circulating widely, Yograj spoke about encouraging Yuvraj to marry outside the community and described his wish for an “Irish or English girl” to become part of the family.

During a conversation on a YouTube channel hosted by Krishnank Atrey, Yograj Singh said he had delayed discussions about Yuvraj’s marriage until the former India all-rounder reached his late 30s. He stated that while the final decision belonged entirely to Yuvraj, he had personally suggested that his son “change the breed,” a phrase that quickly sparked controversy online after resurfacing. Yograj added that he was pleased when Hazel Keech entered their lives and described her as a daughter rather than a daughter-in-law. Yuvraj Singh and Hazel Keech married in 2016 and are parents to two children, son Orion and daughter Aura.

The resurfaced interviews also reignited conversations about Yograj’s relationship with his son and grandchildren. In another interview given last year, Yograj revealed that he met his grandson Orion more than two years after the child’s birth due to what he described as scheduling and personal distance within the family. Despite the separation, he maintained that Yuvraj and Hazel continued to refer to him and his wife affectionately as "grandparents" when speaking to the children. Yograj further admitted that his strict and demanding parenting style may have contributed to the emotional distance between him and Yuvraj’s family.

According to Yograj Singh, his approach to parenting was shaped by discipline and high expectations, particularly during Yuvraj’s cricketing career. He stated that if Yuvraj’s children were raised under his supervision, they would experience the same rigorous standards that he imposed on his son. Comparing the process to forging gold through fire, Yograj suggested that his uncompromising methods were intended to build strength and success, although he acknowledged that this may have created fear and distance within the family structure over time.

The former cricketer has also previously spoken publicly about his dream of bringing together his extended family despite strained relationships. In another interview, Yograj said he hoped to one day see his entire family, including his children, grandchildren, and both sides of his personal life, united together. He admitted, however, that several family members maintained distance from him and rarely communicated regularly. Yograj also claimed that his family understood his preference for solitude and spirituality, adding that he had always believed he provided his children with a strong upbringing despite the emotional separation.

Yuvraj Singh himself has earlier addressed the strict environment in which he was raised and has publicly stated that he wants a different experience for his own children. During a podcast appearance, Yuvraj said he did not want his son Orion to face the same pressure he experienced growing up under a father who was “always a coach and never a father.” Yograj Singh was previously married to Shabnam Kaur, with whom he had Yuvraj, before later marrying Satbir Kaur. The renewed circulation of these interviews has once again sparked debate online about parenting, family expectations, and the public scrutiny surrounding celebrity families in India.
