Mumbai Indians Women Bounce Back, Defeat Delhi Capitals by 50 Runs

Mumbai Indians women dominate with explosive batting and sharp bowling.

Mumbai Indians Women bounced back emphatically in the Women's Premier League 2026, securing a commanding 50-run victory over Delhi Capitals in Navi Mumbai on Saturday. After suffering a narrow last-ball defeat to Royal Challengers Bengaluru the previous day, Harmanpreet Kaur and Nat Sciver-Brunt delivered standout performances with the bat to power their team to a formidable total. The defending champions posted 195 for 4 in their allotted 20 overs, setting a challenging target for the opposition.

Nat Sciver-Brunt led the charge with a destructive 70 off just 46 deliveries, showcasing her trademark aggression and precise shot selection. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur complemented the effort with an authoritative unbeaten 74 from 42 balls, anchoring the innings and accelerating in the death overs. Their unbroken partnership ensured Mumbai Indians maintained momentum throughout and finished with a strong score that proved beyond Delhi Capitals' reach.

Delhi Capitals' chase unraveled early as pacer Nicola Carey wreaked havoc in the middle overs. Carey claimed three crucial wickets for 37 runs, including the prized scalps of aggressive opener Shafali Verma for 8 and Laura Wolvaardt for 9 in the fifth over itself. The double strike left Delhi reeling at 33 for 3, and the collapse deepened rapidly to 46 for 5 by the seventh over, putting the match firmly in Mumbai's control.

Despite the early damage, Chinelle Henry mounted a spirited fightback with a valiant 56 off 33 balls. Her aggressive strokeplay provided some resistance, but the required rate continued to climb against disciplined bowling from the Mumbai Indians attack. Lacking substantial support from other batters, Delhi Capitals were eventually bowled out for 145 in 19 overs, handing Mumbai a convincing win.

The result marked a strong return to form for the defending champions, with Harmanpreet Kaur and Nat Sciver-Brunt proving decisive in both departments. Nicola Carey's incisive spell in the powerplay and middle overs dismantled Delhi's batting lineup, underlining Mumbai Indians' depth and ability to dominate key phases of the game in the ongoing Women's Premier League season.
