The Indian Super League (ISL) 2026 season is set for a dramatic final round, with multiple teams still mathematically in contention for the title, including traditional Kolkata rivals Mohun Bagan Super Giant and East Bengal FC. The league’s tightly contested format has produced one of the closest title races in recent years, with the championship to be decided on the final matchday across multiple venues on Thursday.
East Bengal currently sit at the top of the table and are in pole position to secure their first major domestic league title in 22 years. With a superior goal difference and control over their own destiny, the Kolkata-based club will look to seal the championship when they face Inter Kashi at the Kishore Bharati Krirangan.

Defending champions Mohun Bagan Super Giant remain just behind East Bengal on goal difference, keeping the title race finely balanced. Beyond the Kolkata giants, Mumbai City FC and Punjab FC are also mathematically in contention, although their title hopes depend on both East Bengal and Mohun Bagan failing to win their respective matches. Even then, they would need strong results in their own final fixtures to have any chance of lifting the trophy.
The simultaneous scheduling of the final-round matches has heightened anticipation among fans, with the league poised for a tense conclusion. With goal difference and fine margins likely to decide the champion, the ISL season is heading toward a high-stakes finish that underscores the growing competitiveness of Indian club football.
