Madhya Pradesh Premier League Men’s Event To Feature 10 Teams, Women’s 5 Teams

Madhya Pradesh Premier League expands with 10 men's, 5 women's teams.

The Madhya Pradesh Premier League (MPL) 2026 will expand significantly in its upcoming season, with the men’s competition featuring 10 teams following the addition of three new franchises. The expansion marks a major step in the league’s growth, aimed at broadening its talent pool and strengthening competitive cricket across the state.

The newly inducted men’s teams include Malwa Stallions, Ujjain Falcons, and Royal Nimar Eagles. They join the existing seven franchises: defending champions Bhopal Leopards, Bundelkhand Bulls, Chambal Ghariyals, Gwalior Cheetahs, Indore Pink Panthers, Jabalpur Royal Lions, and Rawa Jaguars. The revised lineup is expected to intensify competition and provide greater exposure to emerging players from different regions of Madhya Pradesh.

The women’s MPL tournament has also undergone a notable expansion, increasing from three to five teams. The new entrants in the women’s category are Gwalior Shernis and Royal Nimar Eagles, who will compete alongside Bhopal Wolves, Bundelkhand Bulls, and Chambal Ghariyals. The inclusion of additional franchises reflects growing interest in women’s cricket and a structured push to develop the sport at the grassroots level in the state.

Officials associated with the league have described the expansion as part of a broader strategy to create more opportunities for young cricketers. MPL Chairman Mahanaryaman Scindia said the addition of new teams in both men’s and women’s formats would help uncover talent from different regions and strengthen the league’s role as a development platform. He added that the league aims to provide consistent opportunities for players to showcase their abilities in a competitive environment.

The MPL has gradually evolved into a key domestic T20 platform within Madhya Pradesh, offering state-level cricketers a pathway to higher-level competitions. With the 2026 season set to feature a larger pool of teams and matches, organisers expect increased fan engagement, improved scouting opportunities, and stronger regional representation in Indian domestic cricket.
