Leeds Beat Burnley to Virtually Secure Premier League Survival
Leeds defeated Burnley 3-1 to move nine points clear of the relegation zone with four games remaining.
Leeds United moved a step closer to securing Premier League survival after registering a convincing 3-1 victory over already relegated Burnley in their league clash on Friday. The result lifted Leeds further away from the relegation zone and placed them in a strong position with only a handful of matches remaining in the season. It was a significant win for the club in its first campaign back in the top division after promotion.
The home side made an aggressive start and were rewarded early when Anton Stach opened the scoring in the eighth minute. Leeds continued to dominate possession and created several opportunities during the first half, putting Burnley under constant pressure. Their intensity and urgency reflected the importance of the fixture as they aimed to collect three valuable points in the survival race.
Leeds strengthened their advantage shortly after the break with two goals in quick succession. Noah Okafor finished off a well-worked attacking move to double the lead after a clever backheel assist helped unlock the Burnley defence. The forward’s recent run of form has proved crucial, with his goals arriving at a decisive stage of the campaign.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin then added a third goal from close range after the Burnley goalkeeper could only parry an initial effort. The England striker has played an important role throughout the season, contributing key goals when Leeds needed them most. Burnley managed a late consolation through Loum Tchaouna, who struck powerfully to reduce the deficit, but it had little impact on the final outcome.
Leeds manager Daniel Farke praised his players after the match, highlighting the importance of the result while insisting the job was not yet complete. The win took Leeds to 43 points and left them nine points clear of danger, giving them a major cushion in the battle to remain in the Premier League. Farke now appears close to achieving a milestone that had previously eluded him in England’s top flight.
For Burnley, the defeat continued a difficult season that has already ended in relegation. The club recently parted ways with manager Scott Parker despite his promotion success in the Championship. Their immediate focus will now shift to rebuilding for another attempt to return to the Premier League next season, while Leeds can begin preparing for another year among England’s elite clubs.
