KL Rahul, Prasidh Krishna, Karun Nair in Karnataka Ranji Probables

Karnataka announces 37-member Ranji probables, including India stars and emerging talents.

Karnataka announced its probables list for the 2025 Ranji Trophy season on Tuesday, featuring Indian cricket stars KL Rahul, Prasidh Krishna, and Karun Nair. The 37-member list, revealed by the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), signals a strong lineup as the eight-time champions prepare for the domestic red-ball tournament, set to begin on October 15.

Rahul and Prasidh, currently representing India A in an unofficial test against Australia A in Lucknow, bring international experience to a squad aiming to reclaim its dominance in Elite Group B.

Karnataka’s campaign kicks off against Saurashtra in Rajkot, with other group competitors including Goa, last year’s runners-up Kerala, Maharashtra, Chandigarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Punjab. The team, coached by former player Yere Goud, who returns after guiding the India Under-19 squad in Australia, boasts a mix of seasoned and emerging talent.

Notable inclusions are India batters Devdutt Padikkal and Mayank Agarwal, spinner Shreyas Gopal, pacers Vyshak Vijayakumar and Vidwath Kaverappa, promising youngster R Smaran, and Mumbai Indians’ wicketkeeper-batter KL Shrijith.

In a significant administrative update, former Karnataka spinner Anand Katti has been appointed chairman of the state’s senior selection committee. He will be joined by ex-players C. Raghu, Amit Verma, and Tejpal Kothari. Additionally, Udit Patel, son of former India cricketer and KSCA secretary Brijesh Patel, has been named to the selection committee for the Under-19, Under-16, and Under-14 teams, strengthening Karnataka’s youth development framework.
