Jason Holder credited teammates Mohammed Siraj and Kagiso Rabada for setting the tone with the ball as Gujarat Titans secured a four-wicket victory over Punjab Kings in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 clash on Sunday.
Holder, who was named Player of the Match, delivered a match-winning spell of 4/24 in his four overs, dismantling the Punjab Kings middle order. He picked up key wickets, including skipper Shreyas Iyer, Nehal Wadhera, Marcus Stoinis, and Xavier Bartlett, ensuring that the opposition could not capitalize on a strong partnership.
The early breakthroughs by Siraj and Rabada proved crucial in shaping the innings, with Siraj striking twice in the opening over and Rabada removing Prabhsimran Singh during the powerplay. Their efforts restricted Punjab Kings to 163 for nine, despite a 79-run stand between Suryansh Shedge, who scored a quick half-century, and Stoinis.

In response, Gujarat Titans faced early setbacks but were steadied by a composed innings from Sai Sudharsan, who scored 57 runs. Washington Sundar then provided the finishing touch with an unbeaten 40, sealing the win with a six in the final over of the match.
Speaking after the game, Holder emphasized the importance of building pressure and executing plans in the middle overs, while acknowledging that the early strikes by Siraj and Rabada made his role more manageable. He added that maintaining consistency and adapting to different match situations remain key aspects of his approach.
The victory lifted Gujarat Titans to sixth place on the points table with 12 points, while Punjab Kings, despite the loss, continued to lead the standings with 13 points. The result adds further intensity to the IPL 2026 season as teams battle for playoff positions in a tightly contested tournament.
