India vs Pakistan U19: Teen Sensation Suryavanshi out Early as Pakistan Take Control

Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s much-anticipated knock ends early as Pakistan strikes in the India vs. Pakistan U19 Asia Cup match.

India's Under-19 cricket team faced an early setback in their crucial Group A match against Pakistan at the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup 2025, as 14-year-old prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi was dismissed for just 5 runs on December 14 at the ICC Academy Ground. Pakistan captain Farhan Yousaf won the toss and chose to field first in the contest, which was reduced to 49 overs per side following a rain delay, with both sides entering the fixture unbeaten after comprehensive victories in their opening games.

The match began with high intensity, as opener Ayush Mhatre launched an aggressive assault, striking multiple boundaries and a six to propel India forward. However, early drama ensued when Suryavanshi survived a vociferous caught-behind appeal off the very first ball he faced, leading the umpire to issue a warning to the Pakistan players for excessive appealing. Despite the let-off, the young left-hander failed to capitalize, chipping a slower delivery from Mohammad Sayyam straight back to the bowler for a caught-and-bowled dismissal, leaving India at 29/1.

Suryavanshi had entered the blockbuster Indo-Pak clash carrying immense expectations after a sensational 171 off 95 balls against UAE in India's tournament opener, but the big-stage pressure proved telling in this high-stakes rivalry. Mhatre, unbeaten on 29 at the time of the wicket, continued to provide momentum alongside incoming batter Aaron Varghese as India looked to recover.
