India Sweep Nepal in Final to Become First Women’s Blind T20 World Champions
Indian women thrash Nepal to create history in inaugural Blind T20 World Cup.
India etched their name in golden letters on Sunday by lifting the inaugural Women’s Blind T20 World Cup after demolishing Nepal by seven wickets in the final at Colombo’s P Sara Oval. Opting to bowl first, the Indian attack was merciless, strangling Nepal to a paltry 114 for 5 in 20 overs and allowing just one boundary in the entire innings. Phula Saren then played a match-winning unbeaten knock of 44 as India chased down the target in a mere 12 overs, reaching 117 for 3 with ruthless ease and triggering wild celebrations.
The road to the title was paved with pure dominance. India had stormed into the final by outclassing Australia in the first semifinal on Saturday, while Nepal edged past Pakistan in a tense second semi. When the two teams met under lights for the trophy, Nepal simply had no answer to India’s superior bowling depth, sharp fielding, and explosive batting firepower that turned the final into a one-sided coronation ceremony.
Pakistan’s B3 star Mehreen Ali lit up the entire tournament like a firework, smashing over 600 runs across matches. Her unbelievable 230 off just 78 balls against hosts Sri Lanka remains the highest individual score in blind cricket history, and she followed it with a classy 133 against Australia. Despite her record-breaking heroics, even Mehreen couldn’t stop India from claiming ultimate team glory.

Co-hosts Sri Lanka endured a forgettable campaign on home soil, managing only one victory against the USA in five league games and bowing out early. The spotlight, however, stayed firmly on the Indian team whose flawless execution, unbreakable team spirit, and sheer hunger for victory delivered a fairytale ending to the first-ever Women’s Blind T20 World Cup.
This triumph is bigger than cricket – it is a roaring statement to the world that India’s visually impaired women are unstoppable forces. With bat, ball, and heart, these queens have conquered the impossible and inspired millions across the nation!
