In a video shared by the BCCI, Gambhir emphasised the psychological boost of senior players sealing the win while remaining not out. “The most important thing was that you finished it off, and Virat as well,” he told the team. Rohit, named Player of the Series for his consistent contributions across the three matches, scored an unbeaten 100, while Kohli contributed a composed 74 not out after registering ducks in the first two ODIs. Their partnership silenced recent debates over form and selection.

The victory prevented a series whitewash and marked a fitting end to what Rohit hinted may be his and Kohli’s final tour of Australia.
