IMD Forecast Shows Rain And Thunderstorms Ahead Of PBKS vs MI Match

A Yellow Alert has also been issued for Kangra district due to the likelihood of thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds. The evening conditions are expected to favour seam bowlers, with strong winds and moisture potentially making batting more challenging under lights.

Punjab’s latest defeat came against Delhi Capitals at the same venue despite posting a formidable total of 210/5. Shreyas Iyer remained unbeaten on 59 off 36 balls, while Priyansh Arya contributed 56 from 33 deliveries. However, their bowling attack failed to defend the target as Delhi completed the chase with an over remaining. The defeat further exposed Punjab’s struggles in closing out matches during the business end of the tournament.

Mumbai Indians, meanwhile, have endured a disappointing season and were officially eliminated from playoff contention after a narrow defeat to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Raipur. The five-time champions posted 166/7, with Tilak Varma scoring 57 and Naman Dhir adding 47, before RCB chased down the target in dramatic fashion on the final ball. Despite Corbin Bosch’s impressive spell of 4/26, Mumbai could not prevent another defeat in what has been a difficult campaign for the franchise.

The last meeting between the two sides earlier this season ended in a dominant seven-wicket victory for Punjab Kings at the Wankhede Stadium. Punjab successfully chased down a target of 196 with 21 balls to spare after restricting Mumbai despite Quinton de Kock’s unbeaten century. Prabhsimran Singh and Shreyas Iyer starred in the chase with a match-winning partnership that underlined Punjab’s batting strength.
