IMD Forecast Shows Rain And Thunderstorms Ahead Of PBKS vs MI Match

Rain and strong winds forecast in Dharamshala may impact PBKS vs MI IPL 2026 clash.

Punjab Kings will look to revive their faltering IPL 2026 campaign when they face Mumbai Indians in Match 58 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala on Wednesday, with weather conditions expected to play a significant role in the contest. While Punjab remain in the hunt for a playoff berth, Mumbai have already been eliminated from contention and are playing only for pride in the closing stages of the tournament.

Punjab Kings enter the match under mounting pressure after suffering four consecutive defeats following an impressive six-match unbeaten start to the season. Led by Shreyas Iyer, PBKS now face the prospect of slipping further behind in the playoff race if they fail to halt their losing streak. Their recent downturn has sharply contrasted with the confidence and consistency they displayed during the opening phase of the campaign.

Weather forecasts for Dharamshala indicate that conditions could complicate matters for both teams. According to the India Meteorological Department, the city is expected to witness cloudy skies and light rain on May 14, with temperatures ranging between 14 and 31 degrees Celsius. A Yellow Alert has also been issued for Kangra district due to the likelihood of thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds. The evening conditions are expected to favour seam bowlers, with strong winds and moisture potentially making batting more challenging under lights.

Punjab’s latest defeat came against Delhi Capitals at the same venue despite posting a formidable total of 210/5. Shreyas Iyer remained unbeaten on 59 off 36 balls, while Priyansh Arya contributed 56 from 33 deliveries. However, their bowling attack failed to defend the target as Delhi completed the chase with an over remaining. The defeat further exposed Punjab’s struggles in closing out matches during the business end of the tournament.

Mumbai Indians, meanwhile, have endured a disappointing season and were officially eliminated from playoff contention after a narrow defeat to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Raipur. The five-time champions posted 166/7, with Tilak Varma scoring 57 and Naman Dhir adding 47, before RCB chased down the target in dramatic fashion on the final ball. Despite Corbin Bosch’s impressive spell of 4/26, Mumbai could not prevent another defeat in what has been a difficult campaign for the franchise.

The last meeting between the two sides earlier this season ended in a dominant seven-wicket victory for Punjab Kings at the Wankhede Stadium. Punjab successfully chased down a target of 196 with 21 balls to spare after restricting Mumbai despite Quinton de Kock’s unbeaten century. Prabhsimran Singh and Shreyas Iyer starred in the chase with a match-winning partnership that underlined Punjab’s batting strength. With the league stage entering its decisive phase, another victory for PBKS could significantly improve their playoff hopes, while Mumbai will aim to end their season on a competitive note and potentially disrupt another team’s campaign.
