Harshit Rana Shares Hilarious First Meeting With Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma

Young pacer Harshit Rana recounts Virat Kohli correcting him to address Anushka Sharma as Bhabhi during their first meeting, praising Kohli's fun personality.

Young India pacer Harshit Rana has shared a light-hearted anecdote involving senior batter Virat Kohli and his wife, actor Anushka Sharma, offering fans a glimpse into the camaraderie within the Indian cricket team. Speaking in a recent interview, Rana recalled how Kohli humorously corrected him during his first interaction with Sharma, an incident that has since amused cricket followers online.

Rana, who first rose to prominence with Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League, made his Test debut against Australia in Perth in November 2024. That series also marked Kohli’s final appearance in Test cricket, making it a memorable phase for the young fast bowler. Since then, Rana has featured regularly for India across formats, gradually establishing himself as a promising seam-bowling all-rounder.

Recounting the incident during a conversation with Men’s XP, Rana said he initially addressed Anushka Sharma as “ma’am” when meeting her for the first time. Kohli, however, quickly intervened and asked him to call her “bhabhi” instead. Rana said Kohli jokingly teased him about being overly formal, turning what could have been an awkward moment into a relaxed and humorous exchange.

The right-arm pacer also admitted that he had preconceived notions about some senior players before joining the national team. Rana revealed that he expected Kohli and Hardik Pandya to be intimidating due to their aggressive on-field personas. However, his experiences off the field were very different, describing both players as friendly and humorous in real-life interactions.

Reflecting on his early international journey, Rana said sharing the dressing room with Kohli during his debut series was a special moment in his career. He noted that Kohli has been an inspiration for an entire generation of cricketers and added that making his international debut alongside the former India captain is a memory he will always cherish, regardless of subsequent team results.
