Glenn Maxwell Returns as Australia Revamps Squad for India ODIs and T20s
Australia revamps squad with Glenn Maxwell’s comeback and new faces for India tour.
Cricket Australia has unveiled a revamped squad ahead of the third ODI and the upcoming five-match T20I series against India, featuring a mix of comebacks and fresh faces. Star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, who missed the first two T20Is due to a fractured wrist, is set to return for the final three games, while Ben Dwarshuis has also regained fitness for the concluding T20Is of the tour.
Promising all-rounder Jack Edwards has earned his maiden international call-up for the third ODI in Sydney following his impressive performances for Australia A on the recent India tour. The 24-year-old excelled with both bat and ball, scoring an 88 in Lucknow and producing a match-winning 89 off 75 balls in Kanpur, coupled with figures of 4/56. His inclusion adds balance to the Australian lineup for the series decider.
In a move signaling focus on domestic commitments, Cricket Australia has released in-form batter Marnus Labuschagne from the squad for the third ODI to prepare for Queensland’s upcoming Sheffield Shield match. Pace spearhead Josh Hazlewood and seamer Sean Abbott will feature only in the early part of the T20I series before rejoining their state sides for the Shield competition starting November 10 at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

The selectors have also strengthened Australia’s spin department by recalling Matthew Kuhnemann for the third ODI. Meanwhile, wicketkeeper Josh Philippe will rejoin the T20I setup as doubts remain over Josh Inglis’ fitness. Western Australia’s 20-year-old quick Mahli Beardman has been handed a surprise call-up for the final three T20Is after an impressive domestic season that saw him claim 12 wickets in just four List A matches.
Australia’s restructured squads reflect a balance between experience and youth as they gear up for a challenging end to the India tour. With star performers returning and fresh talent getting opportunities, the stage is set for a competitive series that promises high-intensity cricket from both sides.
