Former England Captain Andrew Strauss Remarries n South Africa

Andrew Strauss confirms marriage to Antonia Linnaeus-Peat, years after losing wife Ruth to lung cancer.

Former England cricket captain Andrew Strauss has remarried, seven years after the tragic death of his first wife, Ruth, from incurable lung cancer. Strauss confirmed the news on Instagram on December 23, 2025, revealing that he tied the knot with Antonia Linnaeus-Peat in a private ceremony in Franschhoek, South Africa. The announcement was accompanied by a heartfelt photograph of the couple, marking a new chapter in Strauss's life after years of personal loss and recovery.

Ruth Strauss was diagnosed with non-smokers' lung cancer in early 2018. Despite a brave battle against the aggressive disease, she passed away on December 29, 2018, at the age of 46. She left behind two sons, Sam and Luca, who were 10 and 13 years old at the time. Ruth's death deeply affected the cricketing world, and Strauss has since been an active advocate for cancer awareness and support through the Ruth Strauss Foundation, which he established in her memory to fund research into non-smokers' lung cancer and provide assistance to families facing similar challenges.

Strauss, 48, captained England in 50 Test matches between 2009 and 2012, leading the team to an Ashes series victory in Australia in 2010-11 and a historic 4-0 whitewash at home in 2011. After retiring from international cricket in 2012, he served as Director of England Cricket from 2015 to 2018, overseeing a period of significant change in English cricket. His leadership and resilience both on and off the field have earned him widespread respect.
