England Great Admits He’ll Be Starstruck if Sooryavanshi Takes Field in UK Clash
Former England star says he may be starstruck if Sooryavanshi features in UK.
England great Stuart Broad has said he would be “starstruck” if teenage Indian cricketer Vaibhav Sooryavanshi takes the field in the United Kingdom next month, as anticipation builds around the youngster’s rapid rise in international cricket. Sooryavanshi has been named in India’s senior squad for the upcoming T20I series against Ireland and England, drawing significant attention from former and current players alike.
Speaking on the “For the Love of Cricket” podcast, Stuart Broad praised the 15-year-old’s explosive talent and admitted he is eager to watch him play live. Broad, one of England’s most successful Test bowlers, said he would be genuinely overwhelmed by the prospect of seeing the teenager in action during the series opener in Durham.
Sooryavanshi has quickly become one of the most talked-about young cricketers after a series of standout performances at the youth and A-team level. His most recent highlight came when he reportedly smashed the fastest List-A fifty off just 11 balls against Sri Lanka A, a feat that has fuelled growing excitement about his potential at the highest level.

The youngster’s form has also been marked by a dramatic turnaround during a Tri-Nation A Series campaign. After failing to score in his first four matches, Sooryavanshi responded with a blistering 94 off 29 balls in a later fixture, featuring 10 fours and eight sixes. The innings underlined his ability to recover from setbacks and deliver impactful performances under pressure.
Broad also commented on Sooryavanshi’s aggressive on-field attitude, referencing a heated exchange during the series in which the teenager was involved in an argument following a Super Over defeat. The England great suggested that the youngster’s competitive edge, combined with his batting ability, makes him an exciting prospect for international cricket.
As India prepares for the upcoming T20I series in the UK, attention will remain firmly on whether Sooryavanshi makes his senior debut. With senior cricket figures already taking note of his talent, expectations continue to grow around how the teenager will adapt to the international stage if given the opportunity.
