Dale Steyn Offers Coaching to Nepal Following 4-Run Thriller Vs England
Dale Steyn offers his coaching services to Nepal after their courageous 4-run defeat to England.
Former South Africa fast bowler Dale Steyn has offered his support to the Nepal cricket team after its spirited performance against England in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. Nepal pushed the two-time champions to the final ball of the match at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, eventually falling short by just four runs while chasing a challenging target of 185.
The Rohit Paudel-led side, ranked 16th in the world, delivered one of its most memorable performances on the global stage, keeping England under pressure throughout a tense run chase. Despite the defeat, Nepal’s fearless batting and disciplined approach drew widespread praise from fans and former players alike, with Steyn publicly applauding the team’s effort.
Taking to social media platform X, Steyn wrote that he was willing to “offer his services” to Nepal if the team ever needed support. His message was seen as a significant gesture for an emerging cricketing nation that has steadily built a reputation for competing strongly against more established teams. The post quickly gained traction among cricket followers, highlighting the impact of Nepal’s performance beyond the result.

Nepal’s chase was powered by aggressive batting from Lokesh Bam, who struck a rapid 39 off just 19 deliveries to keep his side in contention. Needing 10 runs off the final over, Nepal faced England all-rounder Sam Curran, who held his nerve to deny what would have been one of the biggest upsets in T20 World Cup history. Bam managed only a single off the final ball, sealing England’s narrow escape.
Earlier, England had posted 184 for 7, with half-centuries from Jacob Bethell and Harry Brook setting the foundation. A late cameo by Will Jacks, who smashed three sixes in the final over, proved decisive. Nepal eventually finished on 180 for 6, earning a standing ovation from a packed Wankhede crowd and leaving a strong impression as one of the tournament’s standout underdog performances.
