Bangladesh Choose India Over Ireland, Reschedule September Calendar for ODIs and T20Is
BCB postponed Ireland tour to host India for three ODIs and three T20Is in September.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has postponed its scheduled tour of Ireland in September, significantly boosting the chances of a white-ball series against India during the same window. The decision comes after ongoing scheduling challenges, with reports indicating that Bangladesh opted to prioritise a potentially high-profile and commercially valuable series against India over the Ireland tour, which could not be accommodated within the existing international calendar for 2026.
According to reports, Cricket Ireland informed the BCB that rescheduling the bilateral series later in the year would not be possible due to a packed cricketing calendar and logistical constraints. As a result, both boards mutually agreed to defer the tour, allowing Bangladesh to explore other opportunities, particularly the prospect of hosting India for a limited-overs series that is expected to attract significant global attention and fan engagement.
As per the tentative itinerary released by the BCB, the Indian team is likely to arrive on August 28, with the tour set to begin with a three-match One Day International (ODI) series scheduled for September 1, 3 and 6. This will be followed by a three-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series on September 9, 12 and 13, creating a compact yet high-intensity bilateral contest between the two neighbouring cricketing nations.

If finalised, the proposed series would not only strengthen cricketing ties between India and Bangladesh but also add considerable value to the international cricket calendar.
