Amritsar Soormas Beat Ludhiana Lions To Win Sher-E-Punjab T20 League
Amritsar Soormas clinch inaugural Sher-E-Punjab T20 League title.
Amritsar Soormas were crowned champions of the Sher-E-Punjab T20 League after defeating Ludhiana Lions by eight wickets at the I.S. Bindra Stadium in Mohali on Sunday. The Soormas produced a disciplined bowling performance after opting to field and restricted Ludhiana to 142 runs in 20 overs. Their bowlers struck at regular intervals during the innings, preventing the Lions from building sustained partnerships and putting them under pressure throughout the contest.
Ludhiana struggled to establish momentum and slipped to 86/7 during their innings, with captain Salil Arora, Abhijeet Garg and Krish Bhagat among the batters dismissed. Mayank Markande was the standout performer with the ball for Amritsar, delivering a controlled four-over spell to finish with figures of 3/17. His timely breakthroughs and economical bowling kept Ludhiana's scoring rate in check and ensured that the Lions were unable to build a strong platform during the middle overs.
Harish Kumar and Jassinder Singh attempted to revive Ludhiana's innings after the side lost wickets in quick succession. The pair began rebuilding and provided some stability, but Shubham Rana broke their partnership by dismissing Jassinder for 14 off 12 balls. Harish then combined with Sahil Bhaskar to mount a late recovery, with the duo adding 26 runs for the final wicket. Their effort helped Ludhiana cross the 140-run mark and finish on 142, leaving Amritsar with a target of 143.

Amritsar's chase suffered an early setback when Jashanpreet Singh was dismissed, but Naman Dhir and Sahaj Dhawan quickly restored control. The pair added 58 runs and kept the required run rate comfortably within reach. Dhir continued his aggressive approach before being dismissed for a brisk 29 off 12 balls. By that stage, however, the Soormas had established a strong position and required only a controlled finish to complete the chase.
Dhawan continued to anchor the pursuit after Dhir's departure and was joined by Rahul Kumar. The two batters ensured that Amritsar did not face any further setbacks as they progressed steadily towards the target. Their partnership took the pressure away from the Soormas and allowed the side to complete the chase comfortably at the I.S. Bindra Stadium.
The eight-wicket victory secured the Sher-E-Punjab T20 League title for Amritsar Soormas, with their all-round performance proving decisive in the final. Markande's three-wicket spell had restricted Ludhiana to a modest total, while the contributions from Dhir and Dhawan ensured that Amritsar maintained control during the chase. The Soormas' disciplined bowling and composed batting performance ultimately delivered the championship.
