Amreen Sandhu Wins Punjab Ladies Golf Title as Chandigarh Tournament Concludes
Amreen Sandhu wins the Punjab Ladies Golf Championship after fierce multi-day competition across divisions at Chandigarh Club.
Amreen Sandhu clinched the prestigious Max India Championship Cup (Overall Open Gross, H/C 0–30) at the 31st Punjab Open Ladies Amateur Golf Championship, which concluded on Thursday at the Chandigarh Golf Club. The multi-day tournament, known for its strong field and competitive spirit, saw Sandhu deliver a commanding performance to outclass her rivals and walk away with the top gross honours. Ojaswini Saraswat secured the first runner-up position, while Raza Kaur finished second runner-up in the same category.
In the nett section, Neelu Singh lifted the Neelu Chopra Championship Cup (Overall Open Nett, H/C 0–30) with consistent scoring across rounds. The Gold Division (H/C 0–18) witnessed Hazel Chauhan claim the Winner Gross title in the Bajwa Cup, with Shalini Sheoran taking the Max Silver Salver for net honours. In the Silver (H/C 19–24) and Bronze (H/C 25–30) divisions, Mamshetra Rao and Neelam Garg emerged as respective gross winners, while Ritu Kalra and Gulshan Rai dominated the net categories.
The senior categories produced exciting finishes, including a rare tie for the Neelu Chopra Senior Challenge Trophy (60+) between Poonam Kalra and Pauline Singh, both posting identical gross scores on the final day. In the super-senior Pali Sukarchakia Memorial Trophy (70+), Swatantar Ratia took gross honours, and Bunny Bath topped the net standings. Junior and sub-junior events showcased emerging talent, with Ojaswini Saraswat adding the Max Junior Shield (under 18 gross) to her runner-up finish in the main event and Aarush Sharma dominating the Sub-Junior Trophy (under 13).

Special skills contests added extra cheer to the prize distribution ceremony. Amreen Sandhu also won the Straightest Drive in the Gold Division, while Bhakti Manukkhani recorded the Nearest to Pin at 5’11”. The championship, held under clear skies and perfect playing conditions at the historic Chandigarh Golf Club, highlighted the growing depth and competitiveness of women’s amateur golf in northern India, drawing participants from across Punjab, Haryana, and beyond.
