Three Die After Truck Overturns On Shelter Near Bridge Construction Site In UP

Truck accident near bridge site kills three in Uttar Pradesh.

Three people were killed after a truck overturned onto a roadside shelter near an under-construction bridge in Uttar Pradesh’s Basti district, officials said on Friday.

The incident occurred when the truck reportedly lost balance while passing close to the construction site and overturned, crashing onto a temporary shelter where people were present. The impact of the accident was severe, leaving multiple individuals trapped under the debris.

Local residents and passersby rushed to the spot and began rescue efforts before police and emergency services arrived. Authorities later used equipment to lift the vehicle and clear the debris, allowing rescuers to pull out those trapped beneath the structure.

Police confirmed that three people died in the incident, while several others sustained injuries. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, with some reported to be in critical condition. Officials are working to ascertain the identities of the victims and inform their families.

Preliminary investigations suggest that loss of control or possible overloading of the truck may have contributed to the accident, although the exact cause is yet to be determined. Authorities have launched a probe into the incident and are also examining whether safety norms at the construction site were being followed.

Such accidents have raised recurring concerns about road safety and construction zone management in the region. Officials said further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation, while efforts continue to support the victims and their families.
